Grandma Fricker was born on the Isle of Wight in a town called Cowes. Grandma Fricker was born Isabella Newman. She worked in the kitchen for moneyed people in Cowes. She took care of Bill and was paid for that. They adopted him when they came to Canada. His father's people were shipbuilders. Their name was Cooper. She came to Mount Forest in 1907 where she worked for a grocers for a long time.

After Bill enlisted, in 1915, they moved to Toronto and worked for Swift Canadian. They were is Toronto for four years then came back to Mt. Forest. Her husband worked at Ellises, then for a short time he had a store, about a year. Then, he got sick with cancer.

Grandma Fricker took in boarders to support herself and her family after her husband died.

Addie was born in 1910. She worked in Toronto at United Dental and also in a dress store. She then went back to Mt. Forest and married in 1930. She moved to Brantford the year Sylvia was born. Ted went first to work at a foundry in Brantford.

In 1947 Grandama Fricker came to live in Brantford with Aunt Addie. She died in 1954 at 84 years of age.

Grandma Fricker had 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
